A change of pace and materials. My old pear tree succumbed to honey fungus and I got myself a new one and decided to make something out of the trunk. As it wasn’t very big I was a bit limited to subject and thought about carving a backbone. In the end I opted for the easy option.

Hello Graham.
I have checked many of your paintings and carved Wood art. They are awesome. Thank you showing them! Carvings in my country are popular. Most popular are bear carving, but other types offer also humor. This post is my favorite:

Thanks, carving is generally undervalued here. The ones on the link look like chain-saw carvings. I am plucking up courage to buy a chain saw as I do have some large pieces of tree trunk in my shed and using a hammer and gouge will be hard work.

I have watched chain-saw wood carving competitions myself at wood fests. Generally I am not a great fan, but the bear with the gun really impresses me. I suppose I am into the more traditional styles though with imaginative twists.
