I was taken by the image of the three sunlit boats against the shade of the harbour wall, but despite mixing colours on the paper the harbour wall has come out rather dead and there is a lot of it. Well, I thought that it was a good idea at the time.

I love the purples in this!

What about mixing some greens into the wall?

It was all done wet in wet, so too late now.I mix my greens so it means adding yellow, which may have greyed it out further. Perhaps I need to get some green.

I can see how that could happen. Greens are a struggle but I can see you’ve captured some on the water which looks very vibrant in the image.

Yeah, that’s how I wanted the wall to turn out and there’s even some burnt sienna in there which could grey it out, but it didn’t. Some you win…

Nice painting, but perhaps the harbour wall does look a bit too prominent.

Yeah, in hindsight I could have had the tide a bit higher, but the boats do need to have a dark counterchange behind them, but it could have been a little less.
