A return to pastels in my life sessions. I am trying to get a grittier feel to the paintings and failing somewhat.
I will try bringing in more charcoal work into the pastels in subsequent sessions.

My experience is that pastel medium leads one away from grittiness by its nature. I agree that combining with charcoal (while challenging) will head off that problem somewhat. I look forward to seeing where you take this project.

Thanks for your comment, Carol. I suppose I have been a little taken by the work of Crawfurd Adamson who seems to pack a punch in his work.
