A view of the Mersey Estuary under a low afternoon sun with the Wirral Peninsular in the background and just a hint of the wind turbines. Originally I painted the gulls bigger, but they dominated, as gulls do. Now they sit a little more reservedly in the landscape.

You control the color so well. I could never do that.

Thanks GP. Well some control. I had to wash the front beach off and start again. It came out a bit better second time around.

I can really feel the sun hitting my face. Very nice.

Thanks KingKang – as I said above, I had to reduce the darkness of the foreground as it wasnt working and as a consequence risked losing the effect of light. Good to hear you are ok with it.

A lovely scene you have painted with the sun’s rays making the water all shimmery. The Mersey meant something to me…I researched and now I know that I was remembering a song by the Pacemakers, Ferry Cross the Mersey. Now I need to see where it is on a map!

Thanks Louise. Gerry Marsden, the lead singer died earlier in the year. The ferry is just around the corner from where this was painted. It crosses the Mersey at Liverpool`s waterfront.
