SHOPPING CAN CREATE A THIRST – LIVERPOOL 1 – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

P1060813(1)

This is another painting in the café series. However, it could also be part of the Liverpool paintings I have been doing. Last week I had been walking around the Liverpool Biennial, looking at all the art we have in the city, and I was coming back through Liverpool One (The latest shopping precinct) on the way to the railway station, when I turned and saw this. The people were making the most of the good weather and having a drink outside.

LUNCHTIME DRINKS, DEVONPORT, NEW ZEALAND – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

P1060743(1)

Another painting in my cafe series. This one is a more considered version of the sketch I did in plein air when I was in New Zealand, which can be found in March in the archives. This time the buildings are a little bit more upright. I suppose I should have focussed more on the diners and drinkers, but the building that housed the cafe was magnificent. It was a cross between Europe and the wild west of America.

START OF THE LUNCH HOUR IN PERPIGNAN – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

P1060741(1)

The second in my cafe series. I did this a while ago but a friend paid for one of my paintings so I let them have the first version of this for free. It was part of a series I did of France, but I thought that it would be good for this latest project. I like the areas of light and shade.

EARLY EVENING DRINKS – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

P1060697(1)

This was from some photos I took in Picton, South Island, New Zealand. I loved the evening light picking out the surfaces and glassware. This is one of a series of cafe scenes I am doing. So I will post more in the near future. I started the series some time ago, but got waylaid with other projects. Let’s see how far I get this time.
