MORNING CLIMB – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

I’m in the middle of a couple of projects at present, so here is a painting I did in 2007. It is particularly apt as, today, it’s a bright blue, crisp, spring day outside and this is a painting capturing the anticipation of the summer adventures, hopefully, we will embark upon. Climbing the hill towards the light to reveal more great vistas.

TO SIT AND STARE – ACRYLIC PAINTING

I wanted to try a block approach for an upcoming demo and selected a subject of a couple sat in Green Park with Buckingham Palace and the crowds in the background. I set about transporting them over the hills and far away to somewhere more rustic. Call it a feel-good picture: a paean for the past summer. As I worked away at it it reminded me of those old railway posters they used to have. Maybe they could use it for HS2 if it ever restarts – I wouldnt charge them much…

THE SHORT WAY BACK – PASTEL PAINTING

P1030813a

I was intending on doing this in watercolour, but I enjoyed working on the pastel I did for  the previous post and the pastels were still  out on my workplace – so why not.  I hear many times from bloggers that the photo doesnt do justice to their work. Well here it’s the reverse. This shot flatters the actual painting. It makes it almost presentable.

I’ll leave it alone and see how I feel about it in a week or so. In the meantime it’s back to watercolours.
