EARLY MORNING ON RENSHAW STREET, LIVERPOOL – WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

P1020617(1)a

This view of Renshaw Street looking up to the bombed-out Church is a favourite of mine with some of the quirky architecture in this run down part of the city. I deliberately decided to omit the Anglican Cathederal by hiding it behind the tall building on the right.

WAITING FOR THE LIGHTS ON RENSHAW STREET, LIVERPOOL – ACRYLIC PAINTING

P1070885(1)

I liked the multidirectional shadows and the ghostly appearance of the tree in this image. The lit up building on the right is a Greek taverna and I recall many years ago having a late night meal there and the only way to get some retsina was to have it from a cup and saucer which the owner took away and topped up for me as I ate. Only in Liverpool.
