Arthur, a runner into his sixties, sat in the captain’s chair for last Saturday’s life session. I do like this neutral grey paper. It gives you tone but doesnt drive you in any direction as regards hue.
At least we had some half decent lighting to help create form. This time I worked on a blue biased pastel paper.

Admirable efforts to both artist and his subject, Mr. Arthur (the elderly runner). The well-toned bicep& tricep that you have portraited are really attention catching. Kudos to you, Sir!
By the way, is “Arthur” the title you gave to this painting?

Thanks Miishuangmu. Arthur is the guy’s name – hence the title and he does have a good physique which can be quite dramatic under good lighting.

Great studies Graham. Love the light and shadows and the almost abstract way you’ve created the face in the second study…

Thanks Francisco. I do like to draw the face and think it sets off the figure, but he buried his head in the cushion. I walked around the model and spotted the light and shade on the deltoid and triceps muscles giving a feeling of power. and thought it was worth drawing.
